Psalm 9 and 10 are linked together by an irregular Acrostic, beginning at 9:1 and ending with 10:18. Seven letters are omitted. The Acrostic is irregular, corresponding with the "times of trouble". The notes will show how one subject pervades them. Cp. "the lawless one" (9:5,16 and 10:2,4,13,15); "times of trouble" (9:9 and 10:1); "the oppressed" (Heb. dâk, crushed, 9:9 and 10:18; occurs here and 74:21); "mortal men" (9:19,20 and 10:18); "forget" (9:12,17,18 and 10:11,12); "humble" (9:12,18 and 10:12,17); "not alway" (9:18, and "never", 10:11); "for ever and ever" (9:5 and 10:16); "arise Yahaveh" (9:19 and 10:12). Psalm 9)

1 (א) Let praise You, O LORD (Yahaveh), with my whole heart; I will shew forth all Your marvelous works.
2 (א) I will be glad and rejoice in You: I will sing praise to Your name, O You most High (Elyôn).

3 (ב) When my enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish from before You.

4 For You have maintained my right and my cause;

You have sat in the throne judging righteously.
5 (ג) You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed a lawless one (i.e. the Antichrst. Cp. 10:3,1314,14. Heb. râshâ'), You have blotted out their name for ever and ever. (Cp. 10:16.)

6 (ה) O you enemy (same as the lawless on of v.5), complete is the destruction for evermore: and You have destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them.

7 (ו) But the LORD shall sit as a king for ever: He has prepared His throne for judgment. (His judgment means rewards for some and chastisement for others.)
8 (ו) And He shall judge the habitable world in righteousness (quoted in Acts 17:31. Heb. têbêl. 1st occ. in Psalms; never found with the article), he shall minister judgment to the peoples in uprightness.

9 (ו) The LORD also will be a refuge for the crushed one (cp. 10:18), a refuge in the great time of trouble. (I.e. the tribulation of Matt. 24, Jer. 30, &c. Cp. 10:1. Do you ever need a place to escape the enemy for a minute? I hope you know where you may find that refuge. You had better know the Lord is your refuge in the time of antichrist's reign, or you are in a "whole heap" of trouble.)
10 (ו) And they that know Your name (see 5:11) will confide in You: for You, LORD, have not forsaken them that seek You. (Note the condition. The Lord will not forsake those that seek him. Where do you find Him? Right here in the Living Word, the Bible.)

11 (ז) Sing praises to the LORD, which dwells in Zion (see 2 Sam. 5:7): declare among the people His doings.

12 When He makes inquisition for blood, He remembers them: He forgets not the cry of the humble. (The term "for blood' means for murder. God does not forget murder. It doesn't mater what any court in the land may have decided, God will be the Judge.)

13 (ח) Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, You that lift me up from the gates of death:

14 That I may shew forth all Your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in Your salvation. (Some will be called up before the councils [Mark 13]. Fear not. You have a written guaranty from our Father. You will overcome.)

15 (ט) The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken.

16 The LORD is known by the judgment which \He executes: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah. ("Haggaon" is a Hebrew meaning meditate. You have a head; use it. "Selah" means pause and reflect. God uses this word when He wants you to pay attention to what was just said, and get ready for what is about to be said.)

17 (י) The wicked shall be turned into hell,

and all the nations that forget God.

18 (כ) For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever. (The poor, or better translated oppressed, may look to the future, use their heads and know with a certainty that they will not perish. The wicked will perish with the wicked one in the lake of fire. Those that oppose him and his have a guarantee of salvation from God.)

19 Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in Your sight.
20 Put them in fear, O LORD:

that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah. (There is no reason for you to fear and doubt. You are a child of the Living God. You can take refuge in Father's arms, know He will never give you more than you can handle. Father has promised that you may earnest expect the victory, if you do things His way. Why would you want to do it any other way)
