Psalm 10)

1 (ל) Why stand You afar off, O LORD? (Heb. Yahaveh)
why hide You Yourself in the great time of tribulation? (Cp. 9:9.)

2 The lawless one (Heb. râshâ'. Cp. 4,13,15, and 9:5,16) in his pride does hotly pursue an oppressed one: (Cp. v.18, and 9:9. Heb. 'ânî. See Prov. 6:11.)
let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
3 For the wicked boasts of his soul's desire,
and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD abhors. (The primitive text of this line read, "the covetous man or robber) blasphemes, yes, abhors Yehovah". Cp. 1 Kings 21:10,13. Job. 1:5,11; 2:5,9.)
4 The lawless one, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God:
God (Elohim) is not in all his thoughts. (I. "no sign of God in all his thoughts".)
5 His ways are always grievous;
Your judgments are far above out of his sight:
as for all his adversaries, he despises at them.

6 He has said in his heart (cp. v. 11), "I shall not be moved:
for I shall never be in adversity."

10:7-10. THE LAWLESS ONE. ACTS.
I p 7. His mouth and tongue.
q 8-. Comparison to beast of prey.
   p -8. His eyes.
q 9,10. Comparison to beast of prey.

7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: (Quoted in Rom 3:14.)
under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
8 He sits in the lurking places of the villages:
in the secret places does he murder the innocent:
his eyes are privily set against (a weak one).
9 He lays in wait secretly as a lion in his den:
he lays in wait to catch an oppressed one:
he does catch the poor, when he draws him into his net.
10 He crouches, and humbles himself,
that a weak one may fall by his strong ones.

11 He has said in his heart, "God (El) has forgotten: (Cp. v.12, and 9:12,17,18.)
He hides His face; He will never see it." (Cp. V.14, and 9:18.)

12 (ק) Arise (cp. 9:19), O LORD; O God, lift up Your hand:
forget not the humble ones. (Cp. v.17, and 9:12,18.)
13 Wherefore does the wicked contemn God?
he has said in his heart, "You will not investigate it."
14 (ר) You have seen it; for You behold mischief and spite, to requite it with Your hand:
a weak one commits himself to You;
You are the helper of the fatherless.
15 (ש) Break you the arm of a lawless one and a evil one:
seek out his wickedness till You find none.
16 The LORD is King for ever and ever: (Cp. 9:5. Quoted in Rev. 11:15)
the nations are perished out of His land.
17 (ת) LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble ones:
You will establish their heart, You will cause Your ear to hear:
18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, (Cp. 9:9)
that the man of the earth (spoken above as as the "lawless one".) may no more oppress.

(To the chief Musician.)
