Daniel 11

1-20. THE PAST. THEN FUTURE TO DANIEL.

1-3. The 1st king of Greece.
4 contemporary kings.
5-20. Subsequent kings.

(Many scholars have studied Daniel 11 under the light of historical events. Those events were times, places, and people of the Grecian world, following the death of Alexander the Great, the leader who conquered the world and established the Grecian Empire.

Daniel's prophecy in Chapter 11 appeared to be correct, and follow the course of human events for that day.

When we look at historical events of that Grecian Empire, we see Daniel was correct. There were only two parts of that kingdom that did stand, and have a lasting effect. We know them in Daniel 11 as "the king of the north" and "the king of the south".

The "king of the north" in ancient times was the Seleucid Kingdom, who reigned over the territory from Antioch to India, and from Turkey to Palestine.

The "king of the south" was Ptolemy Soter and his family. They ruled an empire from Libya to Saudi Arabia, which included Egypt.

The angel that came to Daniel came to him in the same area that the "Desert Storm" battle was fought. We know that the United Nations Allied Forces did take the battle to the Tigris River. The angel's message was given specifically for the final generation of the fig tree.

We are living in that final generation and it is time to watch and apply the news events of current times to Bible prophecy. Failure to do so, Jesus warned us, will cause us to be deceived in the latter days. It is then that the Antichrist (Satan) will come upon this earth to deceive the world, as he presents himself as the true messiah.

How do we know the Antichrist from the true messiah? I Corinthians 15:50-58 tells us we will not see Jesus, or His Kingdom in our flesh bodies. Paul shows us a mystery where we will all be changed, at a particular moment, as quick as you can wink your eye. That time of Christ's coming will be following Satan's time on earth, when he and his fallen angels will deceive the whole world, except the elect of God. The elect are those people living on earth with their names written in the Lamb's (Jesus') Book of Life.

It is important to use Daniel and the prophets as guideposts to the coming first of the Antichrist, and then five (5) months later, the coming of Jesus, the true messiah. When you follow man's traditions, such as the "rapture doctrine" and other church world compromises, you will be led into Satan's camp.

Daniel was shown who the little horn was, and how he will come. The little horn is Satan, and he will appear on earth in an appearance that you will expect to be the coming of the true messiah. That will be in peace and prosperity for all who will follow him.)

Daniel 11:1 (Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede,

(He is the same king as in 9:1: i.e. Cyrus.)

even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.)

(I.e. Michael. This verse is parenthetical, to tell us what the Angelic speaker had done 2 years previously [426 B.C.]. This was history at the time given.)

424 B.C.

2 And now

(Calling attention to the then present time [424 B.C.] as being distinct from v.1, which refers to what took place 2 years ago.)

will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet

(I.e. in the then immediate future.)

three kings in Persia;

(Cambyses, the pseudo-Smerdis, and Darius Hystaspes. But ancient histories "contain much that is admittedly fabulous", and the commentaries based on them differing among themselves are therefore not to be relied upon. We know from this verse that there were 3, after Cyrus, and a fourth. Whoever he was, he was succeeded by the "mighty king" of v.4 [Alexander the Great])

and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.

3 And a mighty king

(The he-goat's "little horn" [8:9])

shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.

4 And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken,

(See 8:8)

and shall be divided

(See 8:22)

toward the four winds of heaven;

(Rev. 7. Dan. 7. Last hour, holding time.)

and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.

(I.e. besides the 4. See 8:22. This is future to Daniel.)

5-20. SUBSEQUENT KINGS.

5. The 1st king of the South.
6. The 1st king of the North.
7-9. The 2nd king of the South.
10. The 2nd king of the North.
11,12. The 2nd king of the South.
13-20. The 2nd king of the North.

(That here is a break between the past and the future is manifested from 10:14, of which this chapter is the continuation.)

5 And the king of the south

(Ptolemy Soter, son of Lagus, king of Egypt [see v.9]. He took the title "king"; whereas his father "Lagus" had been only governor. The south has reference to Judea.)

shall be strong, and one of his princes;

(Seleucus I [Nicator = conqueror])

and he shall be strong above him,

(I.e. Ptolemy.)

and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.

(It added Syria to Babylon and Media. North - Seleucid kingdom - Iran, Irag. South - Ptolemic kingdom - Egypt. Nasar head of Egypt in 1848 when Israel became a nation again. Parable of the fig-tree. See also 1 Cor. 10:10)

6 And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king's daughter

(Berenice, daughter of Ptolemy II [Philadelphus] of Egypt.)

of the south shall come to the king of the north

(Antiochus, who divorced his wife [Laodice] and disinherited her son [Seleucus Callinicus])

to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times.

(What goes around comes around. Female = religion. All wars in the end times will be religious wars. It makes no difference how they come to pass, the root cause stems from a religious conflict. This was the cause of the Shaw being removed, the split in Islam, and the conflict between its two (2) branches.

Islam is a strict religion. Its followers are devout, and follow their leaders with passion. It is in this light that the two (2) branches fought (Iran and Iraq) and over one million sons of this lady (Islam), unconditionally gave their lives. Egypt supported half the soldiers in the conflict against Iran, as we saw "the king of the north" (Iran) fighting the "king of the south" (Egypt and Iraq).)

7 But out of a branch of her roots

(Ptolemy III)

shall one stand up in his estate, which shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail:

(The one that came and prevailed was Khomani. He came against the Shaw, and the Shaw fled to Egypt. Then what happened?)

8 And shall also carry captives into Egypt their gods, with their princes, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold;

(Said to have been valued at 40,000 talents of silver; and 2,400 images, including Egyptian idols, which Cambyes had taken from Egypt. Hence he was named by the grateful Egyptians "Euergetes" [= benefactor])

and he shall continue more years

(I.e. 4 years, reigning 46 years in all.)

than the king of the north.

(When the Shaw of Iran fled, so did much of the Iranian treasure. We know it wasn't long following the Shaw's departure until the death of Khomani. We know from history that Anwar Sadat (the king of the south) lived on after Khomani.)

9 So the king of the south shall come into his kingdom, and shall return into his own land.

(Egypt with Iraq, against Iran.)

10 But his sons

(Seleucus II [Callinicus] and and his brother Atiochus III)

shall be stirred up,

(I.e. Antiochus III, the 2nd king of the north, his brother having died by a fall from his horse.)

and shall assemble a multitude of great forces:

(Great military parade. He called his son and they turned and murdered him.)

and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be stirred up, even to his fortress.

(Defeating Antiochus III. In our times, Egypt had more troops on the line in Iraq fighting Iran than any other nation. Sadat called them "his sons". It was theses sons (his military) that "was stirred and came" (killed) him. It was during a massive parade, as he watched thousand of troops, trucks, and tanks parade in review that this loved leader was killed. Shots rang out, and he lay dead at the hands of his sons (his own military). He was murdered in cold blood.

How could this come to pass? The Kenites have caused much trouble as they did in the times of old Israel, in Ezra's time, in Jesus' time, and throughout the growth of the Christian church.
The sons of Cain (Satan) exist even in the world of Islam, as they do in Christianity and amongst the Jews. The pattern and nature of the Kenites fit like a glove, as we observe the events occurring in our generation.)

11 And the king of the south

(The 2nd, Ptolemy III)

shall be moved with choler,

(See 8:7)

and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he

(I.e. the king of the north, Antiochus III)

shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.

(I.e. Ptolemy's hand. In our time, General Husni Mubarak rose to take President Sadat's place. Mubarak (king of the south) committed even a stronger force of his massive army, with the king of the north (Iraq) to continue the fight against Iran. They fought for eight (8) years, but still they did not win. Iran held.)

12 And when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down many ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened by it.

(Giving himself up to licentiousness. Compare the 8 year war recently were millions were killed and nothing gained.)

13 For the king

(Antiochus III)

of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years

(This was 14 years after his defeat at Raphia.)

with a great army and with much riches.

(Recently Iraq rose up Saddam Hussein against Kuwait.)

14 And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south:

(This would be the 3rd king Ptolemy V [Eppiphanes], a mere child.)

also the robbers

(Kenites [sons of Cain], turbulent men who defiled laws and justice.)

of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision;

(I.e. to help fulfill prophecy, by taking the side of Syria, so as to make Judea independent.)

but they shall fall.

(For they indirectly helped to establish Antiochus. See vv.16-19)

15 So the king of the north shall come,

(This is Antiochus III [the Great]; and in vv.16-19 describe his doings, which were a typical foreshadowing of his antitype, "the little horn", the yet future antichrist, described in 11:21-12:1)

and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand.

16 But he that cometh against him

(Ptolemy V)

shall do according to his own will,

(Thus foreshadowing but not exhausting what is said of "the vile person" in vv.21,36)

and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land,

("That glorious land" for Islam is the birthplace of Abraham. It was the City of Ur in the Land of the Chaldea.
We know this area today as Iraq.)

which by his hand shall be consumed.

(I.e. completely desolated. Long war.)

17 He shall also set his face

(The idiom of expressing a fixed purpose. Cp. 2 Kings 12:17)

to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him;

(I.e. Ptolemy V. The words which follow tell us what the terms were.)

thus shall he do: and he shall give him the daughter of women,

(Ptolemy V only 12 years old. The daughter was Cleopatra, then on 11 years of age. The term denotes beauty,&c.)

corrupting her: but she shall not stand on his side, neither be for him.

(She sided with her husband, and defeated her fathers plan. Now, in our time, the "she" is a religion in this latter day, and that religion is Islam.)

18 After this shall he turn his face unto the isles,

(Or maritime countries. Cp. the former Ayatollah Khamenei and the Tigris river.)

and shall take many: but a prince

(Or general. He was the Roman general, Scipio [Lucius Scipio])

for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him

(Antiochus III)

to cease; without his own reproach he shall cause it to turn upon him.

19 Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall stumble and fall,

(Antiochus III, after his defeat by Scipio at Magnesia [near Smyrna], withdrew to Syria.)

and not be found.

(Why? In our time, Khomani died.)

20 Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.

(Bring this prophecy up to date. Barrack Husein Obama is a "raiser of taxes". See 12:11 - 1 of Daniel's days = 1.484 years. So, He may not make it to the end of his 1st term in office.

Keep in mind, Daniel is writing to people far in the future from his time. The purpose was to let those people know the events just prior to our Lord's return. We are the people Daniel wrote to.

Verses 21-12:3 passes on to the time which is still future to us. Part of the notes in the past verses in this chapter are supposition, for at the time of the publication of the notes in this version of the Bible, the "Companion Bible" which is the Authorized Version of the 1611 KJV with Structures and Critical, Explanatory, and suggestive notes: was published in 1912)

THE FUTURE. (STILL FUTURE TO US.)
21-31. "The vile person" ["the little horn"].
32,35. The People. Tried.
36-45. "The willful king" ["the little horn"].

(The next verse begins what is future from now. You will notice that Revelation is an overlay of Daniel and visa versa.)

21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person,

(Cp. Ps. 15:4. 1 of the 12 titles given to the antichrist. See 7:8. The prophecy concerning him is continuous to the end of this chapter. It is parallel with 7:8, &c.; 8:9; &c.; and 9:-26,27. He is not another successional king of the north, but a totally different and unique personage, still future. He comes in by "flatteries", and in v.40 he is attacked by both a "king of the south" and a "king of the north")

to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably,

(Deceitfully. 666 - the 6th Trump. Unexpectedly: i.e. in a time of careless security [cp. 8:25]. Cp. Ezek. 16:49 ["abundance of idleness"])

and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

(God warns us over and over again. When the Antichrist (Satan) comes, there will be no war. He will come as a man of peace and prosperity. The battle Satan will fight is one of deception. This is why we are warned in the sixth chapter of Ephesians to "be strong in the Lord and int he power of His might". (See verse 10.) Verses 11-16 then tell us what armor we must put on to face the battle Satan has for us. This armor is to protect our minds from the deceptions of the Antichrist. It is with this "vile person" that we will be in a spiritual battle with; and it will be fought with words, ideas, and concepts.

This battle is with spiritual principalities, Satan's angelic hosts, Satan's kids (the Kenites), and all sorts of wickedness in high places. This "vile person" (Satan) will attack every fragment of your life, home, school, and work. He will even rule your church. He will seem so right, yet be so wrong.

When Michael will cast Satan to earth (Revelations 12:7), and then this spiritual battle will be in full force. Satan will be eye to eye with the Christians, and most will be so ignorant of God's word that they will think he is Jesus Christ, and go whoring after him. Satan will claim to be Christ!)

22 And with the arms of a flood

(Flood of lies, Rev. 12:7-17)

shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.

(I.e. a prince with whom he made a covenant or league with [v.23], and who hitherto aided him. Satan is going to take over throughout the sixth trump, sixth seal and sixth vial. His number is 666. Don't be deceived. Remember in Daniel 9:27 we are told Satan will " . . . confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, . . . ". I Corinthians 5:7 says that " . . . Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:". That "daily sacrifices" are what we call "Holy Communion". It is the holy communion that will be done away with, because all people except the "elect" of Christ will believe Satan is Christ. They are looking for the first Christ and he will be the first, and claim himself to be so.

Jesus said in Mark 13:20, "And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days." Revelation 9:5, 10 say that time will be a five (5) month period. I think only a few religious leaders and pastors can even comprehend this. They are looking for physical disasters and relying on a way out. When you believe Jesus Christ comes before Antichrist, you are disarmed and left to the mercy of Antichrist. You simply do not have a chance.)

23 And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.

(This is looking to our near future. It is something that the Antichrist will do, and he will work deceitfully with our generation. That means you and I better be on guard. He will use his "small people to make the way for him. Those are the "Kenites" who have climbed to positions and places where they will have influence.

Turn in Strong's Hebrew Dictionary to "People" and you will see #1471. This term is used differently than other places "people" is used. The definition is a "foreign nation, heathen, gentile people. A troop of animals, a flight of locust."

Represented here are the false or bad figs (those who say they're Jews and are not). Also that locust army of Joel 2:15, and Revelation 9. The fallen angels which will be cast to earth with Satan.)

24 He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

(How can this be? Because he enters as the Christ. He will work many wonderful works, and show signs to fool all people who are not aware of who he is. His powers will be great, and his deeds will bring prosperity to the entire world. However, the "elect" of God see right through him. The prosperity will be very short-lived, exactly as the prosperity Belteshazzar offered to Daniel, the night of the "handwriting on the wall". It will be a false sense of security.

Satan's devices cannot and will not harm you when you know what to expect from him. God will send his angels to protect you who have his seal in your minds.)

25 And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army;

(The confrontation of Ezek. 38, 39)

and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he

(I.e. the king of the south.)

shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.

26 Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him,

(There will be treachery within, as well as fighting outside.)

and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain.

(By deception and lies, treachery, and terrorism.)

27 And both of these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.

(Intimating that these things belong to the closing scenes. Cp. vv.35 and 40)

28 Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant;

(Showing when the purpose of breaking the covenant was plotted.)

and he shall do exploits,

(Cause people to fight amongst themselves.)

and return to his own land.

29 At the time appointed

(See Isaiah 14:12-32)

he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former,

(vv. 25,26)

or as the latter.

(vv.42,42. Not successful.)

30 For the ships of Chittim

(= bruisers, God's elect. See Gen. 3:15. Num. 24:24. God's children will make a stand and not bow to the false messiah, antichrist.)

shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant:

(Made with the Judah at the beginning of the last 7 years, already mentioned in 9:27. In 11:28, he had already plotted the breaking of it.)

so shall he do;

(Or, accomplish it: i.e. he will break it.)

he shall even return, and have intelligence with them

(i.e. Kenites, the sons Of Cain.)

that forsake the holy covenant.

31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength,

(By putting up the "abomination" [the Asherah], which brings on the judgment of "desolation". The end is marked by the "cleansing of the sanctuary" [8:14; 9:24]. This is the key to unlock time sequence [season])

and shall take away the daily sacrifice,

(This marks the middle of the "week", or the 1st seven years. See 8:11,12: 9:27; 12:11. From this point he is energized by Satan.)

and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

(This accompanies the taking away the daily sacrifice [8:13; 9:27; 12:11]. Our Lord refers to this in Matt. 24:15. Good and Bad figs)

32-35. THE PEOPLE. TRIED.

32-. The unfaithful.
-32-34-. The faithful.
-34. The unfaithful.
35. The faithful.

32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong,

(Strong for endurance [i.e. resisting all temptation to apostatize)

and do exploits.

(Through the Holy Spirit.)

33 And they that understand among the people

(See v.35 and 12:3,10)

shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword,

(They shall waver, i.e. by the great tribulation which is here described in part. See Mark 13:9)

and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.

(Many will come out of Satan's deceptions, however, most will believe his lies and be taken by the Antichrist's flatteries.)

35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

36-45. "THE WILLFUL KING".

36-39. His character.
40-. His adversaries. Their Assault.
-40-43. His conquests.
44,45. His adversaries. Their Victory.

(Verses 36-45 we have the "willful king" in his unhindered course.)

36 And the king shall do according to his will;

(Cp. 8:4; 11:3)

and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods,

(Quoted in 2 Thess. 2:3,4; and referred to in 7:25; 8:11,25. Rev. 13:5,6)

and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished:

(Yahaveh's indignation. Cp. 8:19; 9:16; and Isa. 10:23,25)

for that that is determined shall be done.

37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women,

(In view of the context this must refer to any gods desired by women": such as Baaltis, Astarte, or Mylita of the Babylonians; the Persian Artemis, or Nanæa of The Syrians; or the "queen of heaven" of Jer. 7:18; 44:17,&c.)

nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.

38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

(Satan wants to be worshipped, and he will use everything within his power to win you over.

In Matthew 4:1-11, we see Satan used wealth, power, and earthly desires to force Jesus to worship him. He even twisted the word of God to seduce Jesus, and it did not work.

Can you be bought? What is your price for your soul? Before long you will be tested also. Your response should be as Christ's was in Matthew 4:10: "Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only shalt thou serve."

The only involvement with Satan we are to have is when we are used by the Holy Spirit to give voice to the Holy Spirit's words.)

39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.

(The 10 horns/toes, supernatural. Satan will be at the height of his power, and the head of his one world system. Why is he with a "strange god"? Because he is that strange god. From that position of ruling over the world, he will use this wealth and power to deceive you.

You have spent a lifetime securing your home, car, and property, that which you think is yours. That is what Satan will use to gain your worship. If you don't know all you have is our Heavenly Father's, Satan will convince you it's yours by giving him respect.)

40 And at the time of the end

(I.e. near to the close of the last 7 years.)

shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind,

(Cp. Ezek. 1. Supernatural performing miracles.)

with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships;

("one world system".)

and he

(i.e. this "willful king")

shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

41 He shall enter also into the glorious land,

(Cp. 16,45; and 8:9)

and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

(Lots children. He will use them.)

42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

(Satan's new world order will reach the entire earth. This is a religious form that Satan controls, and he will do it with performing many wonders, and through peace and kindness.)

43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

(Ethiopia is Tanzania. How is he gathering the silver and gold? How much does your gasoline cost?)

44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him:

(Chittin - the bruisers, God's elect. You have power over him. Luke 10:18,19. It’s you being delivered up and the Holy Spirit speaks through you. It’s going to trouble him big time. It will be worse than the deadly wound. He won't be able to heal this because it is Almighty God speaking through His Elect, identifying what’s happening in this world. And you are a part of it. God has chosen you for that. Stay with Him, stand with Him. You either stand for God or you stand for nothing. You make that stand!)

therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.

(Mark 13. Rev. 13:7.)

45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain;

(Right on the rock.)

yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

(7th Trump. For he is smitten by God Himself. That deadly wound will happen to those that are on the rock. The Dome is over the rock and that's why people go to war over it. If you want to start a war in a hurry, somebody take the rock. It's the most sacred place to all religions Christian, Jewish, and Mohammed’s of the entire world. So naturally where do you think Satan is going to sit? Well that's it, planted right there. But that's okay. Guess what's going to happen to that throne? You read it earlier. See Isa. 11:4. Zech. 12,14. 2 Thess. 2:8. Rev. 19:20. The grave does not receive him [for Isa. 14:19 is only a comparison "like"], and he is not joined with them in burial. He is cast into the lake of fire.)
