Psalm 14)

The fool (i.e. the impious man. Cp. 10:4; 53:1) has said in his heart, "There is no sign of a God." They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that does good [no not one].

The LORD (Yahaveh) looked down from heaven upon the sons of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

They are the whole mass gone aside (cp. "No not one", Rom. 3:10-12), they are all together become corrupt: there is none that does good, no, not one. (Quoted in Rom. 3:10-12 with other Scriptures)

Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up My people as they eat bread (Cp. Jer. 10:25. Amos 8:4. Mic. 3:3), and call not upon the LORD.

There were they in great fear: for God is in the circle (Heb. dôr, company, or class) of the righteous man.
You have shamed the counsel of the oppressed on (cp. Pss. 9 and 10), because the LORD is his refuge.

Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! (see 2 Sam. 5:7) when the LORD brings back the captivity of His people (See Deut. 30:), Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. (On these names, see Gen. 32:28; 43:6; 45:26,28.)
