Exodus 1

See if you can pick up the differences between God's Word in this Book, and the movie "The 10 Commandments, which is a great movie by the way, but notice how man twists things a little bit just like Satan does!

EXODUS. Greek, the way out, or going out. Heb. Ve'alleh shemoth = "These are the names". It is he Book of Redemption (Ex. 6:6; 15:13). Hence the work of redemption is called "Exodus" (Gr. Luke 9:31, "decease") and its types are types of Redemption. Yah, the name of the Redeemer, occurs first in Ex. 15:2, and in the Psalms, in the Exodus Book (Ps. 68:4)

The common chronology places the date of this event at 1491 B.C.

The history of the exodus itself commences with the close of that of the 10 plagues. In the night in which, at midnight, the first-born were slain, Ex. 12:29, Pharaoh urged the departure of the Israelites, vv.31,32. They at once set forth from Rameses, vv.37,39, apparently during the night, v.42, but toward morning on the 15th day of the first month, Num. 33:3. They made 3 journeys, and encamped by the Red Sea. Here Pharaoh overtook them, and the great miracle occurred by which they were saved, while the purser and his army were destroyed.

As we read through this book Exodus, keep in mind that this is the way that our Heavenly Father delivered His children out of their captivity. It will happen again in these end times. This is a type of what shall happen again, and it is a lesson of how we should come out of the Babylon, or confusion of our time. The word "Exodus" in the Greek means "The way out, or going out". The way out of our confusion today is our Lord Jesus Christ. In the book of Genesis, Joseph was the type of Savior, but in the book of Exodus it will be Moses that leads God's people out of their captivity.

Exodus is the book of Redemption, as given in Exodus 6:6, and 15:13; it is where God redeems His people. This was no accident that these children of Israel ended up in Egypt, for God told Abraham in Genesis 15:13 "Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, (and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them) four hundred years; and also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance." God blessed the children of Israel while they were suffering under captivity, and God knew before the fact what He was doing, and this would be a type for His children down through the ages.

Paul warned us in I Corinthians 10:11 "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come."

We are living in the end generation, and the things we read about here are types and examples to us living today. God is allowing you to see exactly how the end will come to pass in our day, as we read through this book of Exodus. The confusion that is coming on the earth today is Satan's deception, and if your mind is focused on the types and warning that God gave us, we shall not be deceived. The seal of God that protects us is His Word locked away in our minds. That Word keeps us from chasing after false teachers and prophets that would lead us into the captivity of the Babylon of our day, the supernatural acts and words that Satan will come with to deceive the whole earth.

Learn to think for yourself and pay attention to what is written in His Word. Today the biggest deception are the traditions that have formed over the past years and centuries that go against the Word of God. Our forefathers and mothers have followed those traditions to where it has been assumed that it must be from the Word of God, when in fact, it goes against what is written in the Word. One of those doctrines is the fly-away (rapture) doctrine that God hates, and condemns as told through the prophet Ezekiel in Ezekiel 13:18-21. Don't allow your mind insert tradition which are not in the Word.

Learn to read for yourself and dig out the truths. Most Pastors today will not vary from their tradition of their church, so learn to rely on yourself and get the right study material. I am using the Companion Bible, taken with the footnotes from the Massoretic Text, using the Strong's Exhaustive concordance, numbered to the Hebrew and Greek Bible dictionaries. I use other material also such as Smith's bible dictionary. Learn to study God's Word chapter by chapter and verse by verse, paying attention to the subject; Who is doing the talking, and who it is addressed to. It doesn't take long to where the leading of the Holy Spirit will give you discernment of the Word to know what is truth, and the trash of many traditional teachings. If you are in a church that does your thinking for you, you are in a cult. Any teacher of God's Word will insist that his or her student will learn to study for themselves, and grow familiar with all of the Word of God. God sent you this letter and He expects you to read it. On judgment day you will stand alone giving account of yourself and your actions before Him.

The Second Book Of Moses
called
"EXODUS"(Hebrew-"These are the names". Greek - "The way out, or going out")

The Bondage of Israel Begun.

1-7. Israel's sons. Their increase.
8-11. Pharaoh's policy.
12. Israel's sons. Their increase.
13-22. Pharaoh's policy.

Exodus 1:1 Now

(The conj. "now" = "and", thus connecting Exodus closely with Genesis: Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy begin in the same way. Thus the Pentateuch is one Book.)

these are the names of the children of Israel,

(Thus Redemption is connected with names, cp. 1:1-4 with 39:6,7,8-14. The name of the Redeemer is published throughout. He reveals His name - 3:14,15; 6:3; 33:19; 34:5-7. Moses speaks to Pharaoh in His name - 5:23. Pharaoh raised up to add glory to it - 9:16. Law given in the name of Yahaveh - 20:2. His name in the Angel - 23:21. God knows Moses by his name - 33:12,17. Bezaleel and Aholiab &c. - 31:26; 35:30,34. Names of Israel's sons: 1:1-4; 28:9-12,15-21; 39:6,7,8-14)

which came into Egypt (cp. Gen.46); every man and his household came with Jacob.

2 Reuben,

(The order is 6 sons of Leah, 1 of Rachel, 2 of Bilhah, and 2 of Zilphah.)

Simeon, Levi, and Judah,

3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,

4 Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

5 And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls:

(See Gen. 46:10, Deut. 10:22, and Acts 7:14.)

for Joseph was in Egypt already.

(Joseph and his family, Ephraim and Manasseh were already living in Egypt and had lived their many years after Joseph was sold into slavery. So Jacob and his entire household that came into Egypt to flee from the famine were seventy souls.)

1635 B.C.

6 And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.

(Levi survived him about 23 years. Cp. Gen. 50:26, Ex. 6:16. In time the entire family that came into Egypt had died, and those left were the offspring of the seventy. Joseph and all his are not living, but their families of the next generation are the ones that will continue in Egypt for the captivity. Most people today, know of the tribe of Judah, but all the tribes still exist today and have migrated to many parts of the earth.

The Prophet Hosea told us of these tribes of the house of Israel, in Hosea 1:10; "Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, `Ye are not My People,' there is shall be said unto them, `Ye are the sons of the Living God."

Jesus Christ is "the Living God", and those tribes call themselves "Christians". No most people of the tribes of Jacob simply do not know who they are or where they came from. Judah is only one small part of the tribes of Israel, and today it is mixed heavily with the Kenites, those Nethinim that came into their ranks back in the Babylonian captivity, and never left. One half of the people return to Jerusalem with Ezra were those Nethinim and their families, and as Ezra recounted those folks in Ezra 8:15 "Of the priests, not one was present of the tribe of Levi." The Levitical priest had left their posts and were not in the group to rebuild the temple and worship.

When Solomon died, God separated the house (nation) of Israel from the house of Judah. The house of Judah has never lost it's identity, where as the house of Israel the other ten tribes have no idea what tribe their are from. Pay attention in your studies which house is addressed for God deals with each of them in His own way. Though the house of Israel has accepted Jesus Christ, the son of the Living God, the house of Judah, called the Jews do not.

As the migrations took place after the Assyrians conquered the house of Israel, they passed through the Caucasus mountains and scattered to man lands around the world, today they are know by the word "Caucasians". Sure they have become know by many other names, the Brits, Scots, Cimmeron, and so on, but all of the tribes still hold to the name Caucasians. These Caucasians nations are the Christian nations of the entire earth. They are the house of Israel.)

7 And

(5 "ands" greatly emphasizing each particular. #5=the number of grace.)

the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

(While the children of Israel were held in captivity in Egypt, their numbers multiplied greatly just as God promised Abraham way back in Genesis. God knew that He was going to bless them while they were there in captivity. Though they were multiplying, they were becoming a threat to the Egyptians as they started to outnumber them. They were put to work as slaves, men and women alike and they were in good health. They were tough and a strong people.)

8 Now there arose up

(Heb. kūm, stood up. Always denotes a standing up in place of another whom he removed. See Dan. 2:31,39,44; 3:24.)

a new king

(A fresh dynasty.)

over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.

(Fresh Dynasty

"New" here is used in the sense of being quite different from what proceeded. See Deut. 32:17. Judg. 5:8, and cp. heteros in Acts 7:18, "another" of a different kind [not allos, another of the same kind]. This Pharaoh was of a different race and dynasty, as shown by Josephus, who says, "the crown being come into another family"(Ant.ii,9). He was the Assyrian of Isa. 52:4. It was intended to include a list of Pharaoh's mentioned in Genesis and Exodus, and an elaborate table had been drawn up. But, as the data are still incomplete, and scholars and explorers are not fully agreed, it is felt to be wiser to postpone a subject which is still a subject of controversy. The title "Pharaoh", being an apellative, leaves the dynasties and individuals referred to open to question and doubt.

Of only one thing we are assured; that, when the real facts have been discovered, they will be confirmed and attested by "the Scriptures of Truth".)

9 And he said unto his people, "Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:

(When your slaves are far more and mightier than your are, that is a time to be concerned. This led to a dangerous situation for the Egyptians, should there be an uprising against their slavery.)

10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land."

(The wisdom of Egypt ended in Pharaoh having to bring up, educate, and prepare the very man who was to accomplish what he feared. Cp. Job 5:13. Prov. 19:21; 21:30. Ps. 33:10,11. Zoan was the capital of Egypt, and noted for wisdom. But compare God's comment in Isa. 19:11,13 and Ps. 78:12,13.)

11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom

(So the Egyptian Pa-Tum, the abode of the god Tum = the Greek Heroopolis = city of the store houses.)

and Raamses.

(Said to be so called because built by Ramases II.)

12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

(The more the work, the tougher they got and the more they multiplied. The people did not have the physical problems that they would have had, if they were on a light work schedule like the Egyptians.)

13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:

(The work load became crushing on the heads of the Israelites, yet they did their work, and continued to multiply. God promised that they would prosper in this foreign land.)

14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.

(These Israelites may have been on a light diet, but the hard work made them tougher by the day. They became a fit and able bodied people, that would be necessary in time to come, as they would pass through the wilderness to the promise land. Most people could not stand up to the training that these Israelites were forced into keeping. The discipline of the taskmasters, mixed with the work and diet made for a pretty good people. As the work was accomplished, these Egyptians were not nice to their slaves, in fact they were down right mean.)

15 And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah (= brightness), and the name of the other Puah (= splendid):

16 And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools;

(= two stones, probably the stone bath in which the children were bathed.)

if it be a son, then ye shall kill him:

(This is another assault of Satan, to destroy the male children, and so prevent "the Seed of the woman" from coming into the world. See explanation at Gen.3:1. But God intervened by providing the Hebrew midwives, and preserving and preparing Moses.

If the population of male became so low, the king would have brought in other races to breed in another race of people. This would have polluted the lineage of Israel, the blood line that the Christ child would come through. This is exactly what Satan pulled in Genesis 6 when he sent his fallen angels to earth to marry the daughters of men. That first time was so successful that only the pure pedigree, or blood line of Noah and his family was not contaminated with the supernatural filth of the fallen angels. God corrected that problem with the flood, but Satan is back again trying to mess over the lineage of the coming Messiah.)

but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

17 But the midwives feared God,

(Eth ha-'Elohim. Very emphatic for the true or triune God.)

and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

(God has changed the mind of these women, and they would not kill off the male children of the children of Israel. They risked their own lives to save these male babies. God took care of them just as He will take care of you in these end times. This is an example of those things past, to let each of us know that we can count on His protection in these latter days. God has His hand on those He chooses, and those that will submit to His plan by faith. Our heavenly Father is in charge of all events.)

18 And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, "Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?"

19 And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, "Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them."

(It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that if one male baby is killed on purpose, why would anyone go to that same midwife to have her second son killed also. They just delivered their own children, instead of using a midwife. The children of Israel knew immediately what the intentions of the king and those midwives were, and they would not give them a chance to slaughter their children. Those two stones became outdated very quickly, and the mothers used other means for delivery. This was the story they were using to the king, only I feel that God put the fear in them to all the male babies to life. It takes a hardened person to kill a baby, and they had no intention of doing the kings wickedness. God has intervened in the protection of His people.)

20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that He made them houses.

(God made each one of those midwives so prosperous and popular amongst the people, that each of them became a noted family or progeny among the people. God increased their childbirth just as He increased that of the women of the children of Israel. God takes care of those that help His people, but remember that even the Egyptian midwives were God's children. He is the creator of all souls. God gave these women the understanding to out think the Pharaoh and they revered God, and continue bring forth the babies.)

22 And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, "Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive."

(In that the Pharaoh's first order of genocide was disregarded, here he gives another order for all the first born male children of Israel to be cast into the river to be killed. Here is another try by Satan to hinder the lineage of the coming Messiah. Even though this order was given, it was not enforced, and soon was withdrawn. However this is the order that put Moses in the ark, and allow Moses to float right into the arms of the Pharaoh's daughter, to be raised in the very house of the Pharaoh. Can you see how God uses even the negative parts of the events that take place, to be used in the fulfillment of His plan. There is no other way that Moses could be planted in Pharaoh's home and care to be raised in a manner that would allow him to lead God's people through forty years in the wilderness. We will see in the next chapter that it was Pharaoh's own daughter that named that male child Moses.)
