1897 B.C.

Genesis 19:1 And there came two angels (two of the three of 18:16) to Sodom (= flaming, burning) at even;

(Note emphasis on time in the Structure, evening, night, dawn, sunrise.)

and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom:

(= the seat of judgment, showing that Lot was a real citizen. Considering the character of all the people of Sodom, I wonder what kind of judge he was?)

and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

2 And he said, "Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways." And they said, "Nay; but we will abide in the street all night."

3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

(Lot knew what would happen to them in the Streets of Sodom at night. Lot knew the danger of anyone being in the streets after dark. Lot had tried the cases of the events of those filthy people of Sodomy, and Lot knew it wasn't safe. This also shows how foolish Lot was, when he tried to protect one of God's angels; because each of God's angels can destroy any of mankind that would offer a threat to them. We read of "angel's food" ["manna" - Exodus 16:14,15]; and that Christ ate after His Resurrection. Again, these angels can sustain themselves on man's food, just as man can sustain himself on the manna of angel's food, just as the Israelites did that for forty years. Thus we can see the kinship of God, His angels and mankind.)

4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:

(This is what it was like in the days of Lot. Sodomy will corrupt people of all ages, it is of the Satan, and the perversion of sodomy so corrupts the mind that it causes perversion and violence of all sorts. In Sodom, the entire town had become corrupt, even the children.)

5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, "Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them."

(So there is no room for doubt, the Sodomites wanted to have homosexual relations with the two visitors. Are you beginning to see the picture? Could some of the diseases of this generation point to the days of Lot?)

6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,

7 And said, "I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.

8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes:

(I always had a problem with this last verse. If I were in Lot's place, the war would have been already on. Salt-shot would have been loaded in the shotgun! Perhaps, Lot knew the Sodomites wouldn't bother his daughters. They wanted men.)

only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof."

9 And they said, "Stand back." And they said again, "This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge:

(See v. 1. The Sodomites are calling Lot a foreigner and questioning his right to set himself up as judge.)

now will we deal worse with thee, than with them." And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

(Never put yourself in a position where you are surrounded by perverted men, where you can't equalize their perversion with some form of equalizer. The Sodomite perversion is blind to all forms of honor and respect. The result of this filthy mind will allow actions to fall far below the level of the animal kingdom. Sodomy is demonic. Our equalizer is the Lord God, and His power.)

10 But the men (i.e. the angels) put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

(These angels can see Lot is getting in deeper than he can handle. They can handle any problem that man can create. They pull Lot back inside.)

11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness,

(Produced by dazzlings of light. 9 instances of people so smitten. #9=judgment. Here [19:11]; 27:1; 48:10; Judg. 25:7, 1 Sam.4:15, 1 Kings 14:4, 2 Kings 6:18; 25:7, Acts 13:11.)

both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

(They were so deeply embedded in their lust that they were still scratching and clawing to get in after they had been blinded.)

12 And the men (i.e. the angels) said unto Lot, "Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:

(These angels are even going to count Lot's family, to reach the ten count, for Abraham's sake.)

13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it."

14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, "Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city." But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

(He had looked, and pitched his tent toward Sodom, had dwelt and made his home there, and married his daughters, and sat in the gate as a judge. No wonder he seemed as one that mocked. He chose Sodom, and "lingered" in the place of his choice, see 13:7.)

Lot told his sons in law that God would destroy the city, and they would not believe it. God also told us in His Word that it would be the same in the latter days, and we can see this prophecy coming to pass, with the same reaction that Lot saw. In fact, even in many churches today, people have grown so ignorant of God's Word that they even accept the perverts into their congregations.

Let it be a warning to those that compromise with the perverts, God doesn't suffer fools, or their perversion. The time is short, and the results will be total. God hates sodomy. In fact, when Jesus was asked about it by the Kenites, all responded was; "Remember Lot's wife." [Luke 17:32].)

15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, "Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city."

16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

(This was because of God's love for Abraham, and also because Lot was a fair man, so the angles did not want anything to happen to Lot.)

17 And it came to pass,

(Notice time change here. It will be the Lord speaking to him now.)

when they had brought them forth abroad, that He said, "Escape for thy life; look not behind thee,

(No "ands" here, but climax.)

neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed."

(God takes care of His own, and God will take care of His Elect. Many today worry about having to live through God's tribulation, However, you don't have to worry about it anyway, for if you don't become involved with the Antichrist and his system, God will take care of you. It doesn't matter if you are even in the middle of it, you will be given a way to escape by the Heavenly Father.)

18 And Lot said unto them, "Oh, not so, my LORD:

19 Behold now, Thy servant hath found grace in Thy sight, and Thou hast magnified thy mercy, which Thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

(Lot is now afraid to leave the city of Sodom for the country, to escape with his life, for he is afraid of the unknown out in the wilderness. Sodom is about to be destroyed, and Lot still can't get it through his mind that there will be no more Sodom. We have the warnings of the prophets, and apostles, and Jesus Christ Himself of the coming tribulation, yet, the church world still wants to hang on to their fairy tales, and false doctrine, such as the Rapture theory, instead of preparing themselves for the total onslaught of deception that the Antichrist will bring upon the earth.)

20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?)

(Figure of speech = the naming of a thing by describing it, epitaph.)

and my soul shall live.

(If God tells you to go somewhere, go and don't worry about it; for with the order comes His protection. If God gives you a way out, such as He gave Lot, don't stand around until it is to late.)

21 And He said unto him, "See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither." Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar (= little).

23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

(This was not an atomic blast out of heaven, and there will not be a nuclear holocaust in this age, or any age. God created this earth to be inhabited, and fire and brimstone will not hurt those people that loves God, because He will protect them. Those people in places that have sinned greatly against God, will be judged, and dealt with by God, and He will not hurt the environment. Down through the course of History, many civilizations were totally destroyed because of their sins against God and pagan worship, but God will take care of His own.)

25 And he overthrew those cities,

(These cities are not in the Dead Sea but their ruins have been discovered by Kharbet-Goumram about 4 miles square.)

and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

26 But his wife looked back from behind him,

(Cp. Luke 17:32, Isa. 63:5 and v. 28 below)

and she became a pillar of salt.

(Remember, the angels said that Lot and his family should not look back, but make haste out of the area. It appears that Lot's wife had found the lifestyle of the Sodomites of interest to her, and the one last look claimed her soul.)

Isaiah 3:9 "The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves."

This sounds like a description of what is going on today, however it was the downfall of the nation of Judah. The Sodomites came out of their closets, and practiced their perversion in the open, and even "their countenance doth witness against them". God is not pleased with them, and just like Sodom was cleansed and destroyed, so also was Judah, and the destruction was brought on by themselves.)

Genesis 19:27-38. Lot's Shame.

27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD: (see 18:22.)

28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

(It does not say he saw the cities, but only the smoke.)

29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham,

(Lot's deliverance due to Abraham's prayer.)

and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

(So it will be in the end times. No rapture. He can protect you right in the middle of the battle.

When we study all the lessons in both the Old and New Testament, we are told in I Corinthians 10:11; "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come."

They are "ensamples" to let us know what is going to happen in the end of this age. We are living in the end times, and these perversions are becoming so common that many churches even proudly declare their support of what God hates so much.)

30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, "Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:

(The daughters felt that they were cut off from all the world.)

32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father."

33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

(There will be two groups of people that will come from this relationship between Lot and his two daughters.)

37 And the first born bare a son, and called his name Moab (= from a father): the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.

(As we study the Scripture, and end time prophecy, don't forget who these people are, for they will become a nation, and exist in end time prophecy such as in Micah 6.)

38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi:

(= son of the god Am. Begotten in shame, both had a shameful history. Deut 23:3,4. Cp. Judg.10:10; 11:4,15. Num.21:29. Deut.2:19; 3:16. 2 Chron.20:1. Zeph.2:8.)

the same is the father of the children of Ammon (= the sons of renown, mountaineers) unto this day.

(Genealogies are important to God, and it will become important to know the different peoples as to where they came from. In the genealogy of Christ, it was important to know that the blood line was pure, for Noah's and Abraham's pedigree was pure, and free from the Kenite, or the Nephilim contamination. And to understand the good prophets from the false, it is also important to know the parentage of the one speaking. In many cases something will be said by a person with the same name as a prophet, and it will be assumed to be of God, when in fact it is not.

We should keep an eye on Abraham, for he will become the father of many nations, both of Israel, and Judah, and Gentile nations. Abraham is to be a blessing to all, and this is primarily because Jesus Christ would come from Abraham's family. Abraham's obedience and faith is an example set for us, he talked with God, and today we communicate with God through our prayers and the study of His Word. Don't let your talking to God become a ritual, but make it a personal conversation, as you would converse with a friend.

Abraham walked and talked with God, and when we call upon him in Jesus Name, He will listen to us also. You don't need a formal setting, and a ritual routine to approach our Heavenly Father, you just talk to Him like you would a close friend. God is not out to destroy you, and because of His love for you, He sent His to even die for you so each of us could approach Him with even our smallest problems. When the going gets tough, that is when God is at His best, for there is no problem that He can not handle.

If you are into some perverse situation, it's time to repent of that sin in your life, and get right with God. Who do we approach our Heavenly Father? Well, Jesus gave us a pattern to follow in Matthew 6:9-13, in what we call "The Lords Prayer". Our credentials for approaching God the Father, and asking forgiveness from our our sins, is in the Name of Jesus. That is the only power that can be used, and recognized by the Father, and we must repent first. Then you talk to Him and tell Him how much you love Him, and what your problems are. God hears you when you talk to Him, and He cares for you. There is no act that you can commit, that when you repent to God in Jesus Name, Jesus blood shed on the cross can not cover. Go ahead and talk to Him. He is your friend.)
