Hear Our Father

Newsletter #390 - April 2011 - By Shepherds Chapel - http://www.shepherdschapel.com/

There is nothing more important than hearing from our Father. We hear from Him directly through His Word. We are going to start with a message from God to the people of Israel through the prophet Isaiah. The message would be repeated by Jesus Christ and Paul centuries later. The message applies to you today. Hear our Father.

Isaiah 6:1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, "Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory."

No matter how bad things become, don't forget this verse. Father's glory fills the whole earth. He is on the throne, and His elect feel His presence. We feel His protection. He communicates His plan to us. We hear our Father.

Isaiah 6:4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then said I, "Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts."

Uzziah was a king that died with leprosy. You Father is a King Who is eternal. Israel had fallen away from God. They weren't hearing our Father.

Isaiah 6:6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

The live coal was taken from the alter of God.

Isaiah 6:7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, "Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged."

The fire of God cleanses us of sin. Did the fire from God's altar harm Isaiah? Absolutely nt. The fire of God won't harm you either, if you are serving Father.

Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then said I, "Here am I;" send me.

Isaiah was a willing servant. Are you?

Isaiah 6:9 And He said, "Go, and tell this people, 'Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.' 10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed."

Very few listen to God. Even fewer hear with understanding. Some can't hear for their own protection. They remain innocent if they don't understand.

Isaiah 6:11 Then said I, "Lord, how long?" And He answered, "Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,

God's children, for the most part, are biblically illiterate. God will let them destroy themselves spiritually. It continues even unto today. How many people do you know with whom you can have a reasonably intelligent biblical conversation? There aren't many who are hearing our Father.

Isaiah 6:12 And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.

Please note we are talking about the land.

Isaiah 6:13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof."

A plot of one tenth of land is set aside. The oak and the teil are mentioned, because you can cut them down, but they will still sprout a sapling from the roots. So it is with God's elect. They will continue from generation to generation. The holy seeds keep spouting out. We elect hear our Father, and then share His truth with others. Let's continue our study in Matthew.

Matthew 13:9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear." 10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, "Why speakest thou unto them in parables?" 11 He answered and said unto them, "Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

This is what was going on in Isaiah Chapter 6. If the people want to deceive themselves, God will allow them.

Matthew 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

All to many today listen to the traditions of men, rather than the word of God. They would,t know truth, if it bit them. They aren't hearing our Father. They are hearing the words of men.

Matthew 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, 'By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

They just don't get it. They can't understand the simplicity in which Christ teaches. Fortunately, some would rather hear our Father. That is why this ministry is growing. The tenth are waking up, and they are hungry.

Matthew 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.'

After they see, hear and understand, they become responsible. Then it is possible for them to commit the unforgivable sin. There eyes and ears are closed for their own good.

Matthew 13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. 17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

You are very fortunate to have eyes to see and ears to hear at this point in time. Many of the prophets would have loved to switch places in time with you.

Matthew 13:18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

There is a big difference between hearing the Word of God and understanding the Word of God.

Matthew 13:20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

Have you ever shared a truth with someone who lit up like fire when they heard the Word, and then the next day they were gone? There is no root, and they weren't chosen.

Matthew 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

If you are unfruitful, God can't utilize you. But the angels in heaven rejoice, when one soul is saved. If you even have a small part in that, God will bless you.

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

It doesn't matter how much you produce. As long as you are producing, you will receive God's blessings. Be part of that shoot that springs forth. Hear our Father. Obey our Father. Let's go to the Book of Acts.

Acts 2:32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

The Holy Spirit spoke through the apostles in a language everyone understood.

Acts 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, "The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit Thou on my right hand, 35 Until I make Thy foes Thy footstool.'

This is quoting Psalm 110:1. Jesus will remain at the right hand of God, until His enemies are made His footstool. Who do you think is going to make His enemies His footstool? God's elect will when they witness against the false messiah. God's elect will stand for Jesus Christ.

Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, Whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ."

They had crucified Jesus, and God and made Him Judge. They probably aren't feeling too good right about now.

Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" 38 Then Peter said unto them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Even those who crucified Jesus could be forgiven upon repentance.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call."

The Lord has called His election. He knows He can trust them. They hear our Father, and obey our Father.

Acts 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, "Save yourselves from this untoward generation." 41 Then they that gladly received His word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

The church was growing. The church continues to grow today, when the fire, that is to say the truth, from the altar of God is taught. Hear our Father! Turn with me to 1 John.

1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

Hold that Word dear, my friends. The Word is strength.

1 John 1:2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.

When you have seen and heard the Word of God, you can enter into fellowship with our Father and His Son.

1 John 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5 This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

When you hear Father, share the message with others. In conclusion, turn with me to the Book of Romans.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Don't ever allow anyone to rob you of hearing God's Word by substituting the words of men. The Word of God builds your faith. Hear our Father! Serve our Father!

In His service,
Arnold Murray
